Dear School Community Members,
As one of my first tasks as
the Superintendent of Eldred Central School I am excited to welcome you to the 2007-2008 school year. As I prepare this brief note, “Getting to Know You” is playing in my head. Most of you share many opening year experiences here and as the newcomer I look to you for guidance and
support as we begin this adventure together.
As I review my responsibilities,
I see facilities as a major part of my introduction to the district. We will
wind our way through the steps of approval so that the construction project gets underway on schedule. Ms Gregory departed the district after highlighting all that has been accomplished in the past year and
assures me that she will be available to answer the many questions I may have.
You have much to be proud
of in your support of quality education for all the students who reside here. During
my first few months I want to observe the quality programs and get to know the students, staff and parents. My initial impressions find a hardworking and dedicated staff, eager students and supportive parents and
community members. I hope you will take some time to assist me in integrating
myself into this educational community. While
being interviewed it was clear that all stakeholders share the belief that Eldred is a strong educational environment that
seeks to improve on all levels. Although it faces many of the concerns of small
schools in the nation, it maintains high expectations and sends students into the world prepared to face the challenges of
adult life.
We will continue to use all
available data to make meaningful decisions that will impact our students as they move from preschool to graduation. Negotiating our global society necessitates skills and knowledge that I certainly
did not encounter during my public school experience.
As I busy myself making the office
feel like my new home, I hope you will stop by and share your thinking on the needs of the district. I look forward to visits from many during this year. Eldred Central School benefits from ongoing and meaningful conversation. Shared thinking and ongoing dialog provide energy to sustain the momentum that supports continuous improvement.
Enjoy what remains of the
summer and join me in looking forward to the upcoming school year with excitement and anticipation.
Sincerely,
Berneice B. Brownell
Superintendent
